FARGO – A twin home in south Fargo suffered extensive damage and one person was sent to the hospital after a fire Saturday night.
Fargo Fire crews were called to a twin home structure fire in the 5000 block of 48th Avenue South at just after 10 p.m. Saturday. They arrived to find heavy flames coming from the west unit of the twin home.
The fire extended from the ground floor to the roof and was quickly spreading due to strong winds. The extension of the fire caused the adjacent unit of the twin home to catch fire.
A second alarm assignment was called due to the intensity of the fire and heavy smoke conditions.
All residents had evacuated by the time crews arrived. One individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a dog was also found inside and taken to a local vet for evaluation.
The originating unit sustained extensive fire damage, and the secondary unit suffered significant fire damage. A third home sustained exterior damage due to the heat of the fire.
The residents of the twin homes have been displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
