EDDY COUNTY, N.D. – Fire officials said flames that ignited the Blackhawk Fire in the New Rockford, North Dakota area Tuesday have been contained.
Crews were called around 11:45 AM and officials say the flames were put out more than eight hours later. The grass fire was impacted by 20 mile per hour winds. Crews say an estimated 400 acres of pasture and wildlands were scorched. A power pole was destroyed and power was out for several hours in the area and was restored around 9:00 PM.
Several departments and Bureau of Indian Affairs planes fought the flames.
No injuries have been reported and no buildings have been impacted by the fire.
