Fargo, N.D. – Several drivers were in need of rescue after getting stuck in flash flooding that washed out several roads during Friday night’s storms in Fargo.
One of those drivers is now sharing her story of what it was like to be paralyzed in the water.
“It was scary,” Jennifer Jordan told Flag Family News. “I started panicking especially when the water started rising.”
Around midnight that night on June 20th, Jordan says she decided to head out to pick up a friend a few blocks away from her home in the Brunsdale section.
The National Weather Service had already issued a flash flood warning that lasted until 3:30am Saturday.
On her way to meet her friend, Jordan drove right into rising floodwaters at 32nd Avenue South and 15th Street South.

“I didn’t think the water was that deep until I got into it and there was no going back,” said Jordan, who looked around and saw two other vehicles in the same situation.
Jordan says she began to worry about her safety and her own life.
“It [the water inside] got up to the seats in my car,” said Jordan. “It was up almost to my knees.”
Thinking the water could rise even higher, Jordan says she turned off her car and called 9-1-1.
A fire truck arrived about 15 minutes later and pulled her out.
Jordan shared video with Flag Family News documenting the moment after she was taken to drier land.
“I was really grateful to the fire department because they were nice guys and really helped me out,” said Jordan. “They gave me a ride home after that.”
Unfortunately for her car, Jordan had to hire a private towing company to fish out her vehicle.
It wasn’t brought back to her home until 5am that Saturday morning.
The vehicle, which is failing to start up again, suffered extensive water damage and is out of commission at one of the worst times for Jordan.
Jordan recently returned to work after suffering a heart attack, but is now unable to go back until the car is fixed.
“I bought the material for the oil change but the person who came to help left in the middle of the job,” said Jordan. “Just trying to stay positive that someone will come help me.”
Jordan, who runs her own private cleaning business, is looking for someone else to help with repairs and to inspect her vehicle.
