First on Flag Family: Video shows masked juveniles running after repeatedly kicking front door of south Fargo home after midnight

Fargo, N.D. – As the school year comes to a close and the summer break begins, kids are apparently starting to act up by stirring up trouble in parts of the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Flag Family News obtained video showing people in ski masks at a home recently in Fargo’s Woodhaven neighborhood, where the group was repeatedly kicking the front door in the middle of the night.

And it’s happened on four different occasions to this particular person.

“It’s not good,” said the homeowner, who lives along Woodhaven Drive across from Woodhaven South Park and Pond.  “I’m just worried that they’re going to get hurt.”

The homeowner, who wants to remain anonymous to avoid further incidents, says it began last Thursday June 5th.

After pulling into his driveway following a day at work, he says he saw kids hanging out in the park across the way yelling obscenities at people walking by with their dogs.

The group was also hollering at him as he headed inside.

A short time later at around 7:30pm, the homeowner says he heard what sounded like a “mule kick” at the front door, believing it was the same group of kids who hit the door and took off.

It happened again later that night around 9pm.

In that later instance, a bicycle was left behind.

Based on advice from police, the homeowner says he left the bike out front against a lamppost and said it was gone by the following Friday.

But on that Friday, it started happening again.

“I heard a big bang in my backyard.  I didn’t see anybody,” he said.  “They probably banged my door on my shed.”

The sound was so loud that the homeowner says a neighbor walked out to check out the commotion.

Thinking the culprits would come back to do it again, the man says he waited inside his home that night with his phone ready to record them on video.

“I’d rather not have to sit up and get them on film, but I’m determined to find out who they are so their parents can find out and take care of the situation themselves,” he said.

And he got what he wanted.

Three people returned hours later kicking his door after 1am on Saturday June 7th.

The footage shows at least two people standing in the driveway.  One was fully visible wearing a mask, while the other is seen off to the left partially blocked by the side of the garage.

Video then shows the homeowner starting to chase after the group, as all three people ran off into the night.

Although he doesn’t feel threatened, the homeowner is actually more concerned about the children and their own safety.

“They’re kids [and] they’re just being dumb,” he said.  “If they’re on someone’s driveway or front stoop…they’re gonna knock on the wrong door eventually and it’s probably not going to end up very good for them.”

The man says he’s unaware if it’s happening to other homeowners in the neighborhood, but was told police that patrols would be increased in the area.

Flag Family News reached out to police about the situation.

In a written statement, Neighborhood Services Sgt. Lucas Mock confirmed the incident and the request for extra patrols “to discourage further disturbances.”
