FARGO, N.D. – A Gardner man has been charged after a reported sexual assault case earlier this week in rural Cass County.
Charges were filed against Kaleb Chase earlier this morning in Cass County District Court in Fargo.
He’s facing eight counts, including four for Gross Sexual Imposition, a Class AA Felony; two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
According to court documents, on March 31, deputies were called to Gardner, where a juvenile female had called to report she had been ‘kidnapped and raped.’ Deputies arrived and found the girl, who was not dressed for the weather.
She told investigators that she had been staying at a location in Fargo when, at the location, she had gone down to get something to drink and located a man outside of the building. She went to let him in the building when he, according to the girl, grabbed her arm and led her to his car. He then drove her to a house in Gardner, identified as his home.
The girl told investigators that the male ‘did inappropriate things to her.’
After the assault, she left the home and called authorities.
Chase told authorities that he ‘hung out with a girl last night, who was 21, from um…meet me,’ a location-based networking and dating application. He was found to have an over-the-counter contraceptive on him.
When trying to interview him later, Chase requested to speak to a lawyer.
A search warrant was executed at his home.
The warrant yielded a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue consistent with marijuana, approximately six-and-a-half grams of marijuana, another approximately 28 grams of marijuana, a second smoking pipe and less than a gram of methamphetamine.
Chase will appear in court later today for an arraignment hearing.
