SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has authorized emergency assistance for seven counties and White Earth Nation which have dealt with significant damage from storms in June.
The counties are:
- Beltrami
- Cass
- Clearwater
- Hubbard
- Mahnomen
- Norman
- Todd
“[The storms] brought hurricane force winds, severe flooding, and widespread damage,” said Walz said in a statement obtained by Flag Family News. “When I visited Bemidji in June with the state emergency management team, we witnessed neighbors helping neighbors, demonstrating a resilience that reflects the very best of Minnesota.”
Funding and public assistance will help the seven counties and White Earth in rebuilding public infrastructure damaged by the storms.
After the storms hit, Walz declared a peacetime emergency which allows state agencies to provide help.
