Grand Forks County State’s Attorney declines charges in officer-involved shooting

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The Grand Forks County States Attorney says no charges will be filed in connection with an early December officer-involved shooting.

Haley Wamstad says the officer’s use of deadly force was ‘objectively reasonable and legally justified.’

The officer used his weapon during a hostage situation after officers had a reason to believe the victim faced an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury. The shooting took place in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue North and resulted in the death of Alice Nesdahl.

The victim was not injured.
