Grand Forks man arrested after up to 90 mph chase with toddler in vehicle

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Grand Forks man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase with his 1-year-old son in the back seat.

Cole Longoria was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 11, after a pursuit that reached 80-90 mph, according to court documents.

The chase began when a Grand Forks County deputy assisted East Grand Forks police with a vehicle pursuit at South Washington Street and 13th Avenue.

Longoria repeatedly ignored police commands during the chase, according to court documents. The pursuit ended when his vehicle became stuck in a snowbank at 27th Avenue South and Clover Drive.

Longoria initially refused to exit the vehicle. He told officers his 1-year-old son was in the back seat.

Officers used force to take Longoria into custody after he resisted arrest, according to court documents.

Longoria is charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, child neglect, driving under revocation, and preventing arrest on felony charges.

No injuries were reported.
