GRAND FORKS, ND – Five years ago, Grand Forks Police officer Cody Holte died, and three other officers were injured in a shooting in Grand Forks.
Two Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department officers, Sergeant Kelly McLean and Corporal Ron Nord, were serving orders at an apartment in the 2000 block of South 17th Street when the deputies were overcome by gunfire.
The first of two Grand Forks Police officers to respond was Corporal Patrick Torok – followed by Holte.
The suspect, Salamah Pendleton, killed his mother, Lola Moore, and Holte, while injuring Nord.
“It seems like just yesterday we said goodbye,” the department said in a social media post, announcing the flags at the police department were being flown at half-staff in remembrance of Holte.
