HANKINSON, N.D. – If you want to get into the spirt of things this fall, Hankinson is holding their 23rd annual Oktoberfest celebration this weekend to kick off the season.
The all-day festival begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27th featuring food, music and more.
The musical acts will include several groups including the high school marching band playing up until 9 p.m..
“We get a lot of people who like to dance, kind of like your local wedding dances,” the Hankinson Oktoberfest Committee’s Beth Tiegs told WDAY Radio’s Bonnie & Friends.

Tiegs says there will be plenty of food offerings.
“One of my favorites is knoephla soup and hot German potato salad which is a treat once a year,” said Tiegs. “We’ll also have brats and sauerkraut and laugenbrezel which is a type of German pretzel.”
You can also take part in several contests, from axe throwing, adult and kiddie pedal car races and hammerschlagen, which is a hammer nail-driving competition.
Tiegs says they also offer a free photo booth on site.
“We decorate a classic pickup with fall colors which a lot of people use for their backdrop for Christmas cards and things.”
The day will close with a fireworks display at 9 p.m..
