Heavy machinery, volunteers continue to be needed in Page

Interview with Page Mayor Jim Heidorn on The Jay Thomas Show

PAGE, ND – The mayor of the small rural Cass County community of Page says the city continues its cleanup efforts after a storm ripped through the region late last Friday night.

“The really big stuff is pretty well cleaned up,” mayor Jim Heidorn told WDAY Radio’s The Jay Thomas Show. “We’re working in yards and alleys and stuff like that.”

Strong winds knocked down trees and damaged homes and other buildings in the community, while stronger storms killed at least three people.

There’s still work to do, however, Heidorn said. The community is looking for volunteers to help continue the cleanup – specifically he says they’re looking for people with things like rakes and shovels – and even a few chainsaws.

A lot of progress has been made in the cleanup, Heidorn said.

“It’s surprising where we’ve come from on Saturday morning to where we ended up on Sunday night,” he said. “But we still have a lot of cleanup to do.”

Heidorn said the city could use a couple of Bobcat tractors and dump trailers.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call Kyle Erickson at (701) 388-6590 before coming to help.
