LISTEN: North Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind and Trooper Darrin Malafa’s conversation with Jay Thomas
NORTH DAKOTA – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is taking part in the First Responder Christmas Food and Toy Drive to make people’s holidays brighter.
Food, toys or money can be dropped off from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 6 at the Walmart on 52nd Avenue South in Fargo and Rock Island Place in Bismarck, and Walmart stores in Jamestown, Devils Lake, Mandan and Williston.
“It’s amazing the response we get from the public and how much people are willing to donate. Whether they came into the store and they were not planning on it, they didn’t know we were there, but they saw us, they bring something out. Some people, it’s the last $20 in their pocket they’re spending on to give a kid a great Christmas,” NDHP Captain Bryan Niewind said on “The Jay Thomas Show”.
Donations can also be dropped off at the North Dakota Department of Transportation office in Fargo at 503 38th Street South.
The Highway Patrol thanks Walmart for hosting the event and to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the Fargo Police Department for helping out and for Ultimate Transportation for letting troopers use their trailer to fill it up with donations.
