High speed police chase ends with arrest in Clay County MN

Riverton Township, M.N. – Authorities arrested a man accused of speeding off during a routine traffic stop last night in Clay County.

Around 9:30pm on July 6th, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year old Jason Bearking of Fargo was driving without headlights on along Highway 10 in Riverton Township.

As a deputy tried to pull him over, Bearking made a sudden U-turn and sped off in the other direction.

Speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour during the pursuit, which eventually involved a second deputy.

After Bearking turned around a second time, the vehicle began to break down which allowed police to hit the car with a PIT maneuver to stop it.

Bearking was taken into custody on a series of charges, including for drug possession and driving with a revoked license.
