Jason Moszer remembered at 10-year memorial service

FARGO, ND — Fargo Police remember Jason Moszer as someone “dedicated to serving and protecting others.”

On the night of February 10, 2016, the Fargo Police Department responded to a domestic violence call near 3rd Street North and 9th Avenue North. The suspect, armed with multiple long guns, had barricaded himself inside the home and had threatened to shoot any officer who approached.

As officers secured the perimeter, the suspect opened fire, striking Officer Moszer. He was rushed to the hospital where he died the next day.

“Jason made the ultimate sacrifice while bravely serving our community,” Chief David Zibolski said. “One of our biggest duties is to protect the vulnerable from harm, which can be anyone at any time. And in this case, it was her. He didn’t wonder why he was going. He didn’t stop to hesitate to respond. He went, along with other Fargo officers who were dealing with the same situation. He was representing himself as a guardian of our community and gave the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.”

Officer Mark Ranum remembers Moszer as  “the community engagement team before the position was created.”

Slamabama also performed at the celebration.
