Job Service ND to host Fargo hiring event for people facing employment barriers

Fargo, N.D. – Job Service North Dakota is hosting a hiring event this week in Fargo.

While the “Fair Chance Job Fair” on June 5th is open to everyone, the employment agency says the event is focused on a specific group of people.

“This one is more for job seekers who seek barriers to employment,” Job Service ND’s Tammy Desautel told WDAY’s Bonnie & Friends.

Desautel says those barriers can range from lack of education, to gaps in their job employment history or “any background they need to overcome.”

Cole Thomsen founded the nonprofit “Deep Roots Recovery”, which is partnering with Job Service ND and works with recovering addicts and ex-convicts.

“We’re just trying to get people back to their independence and know what their purpose is, to get them on track and moving forward in life,” said Thomsen.

Heart n’ Soul Community Cafe is also providing meals in the parking lot during the job fair.

“They’re offering meals at what you can pay, and if you can’t pay there are no questions asked,” said Thomsen.

The June 5th event begins at 11am and runs until 2pm.
