Law enforcement called to two emergencies on Ottertail Lake

OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. – A boat capsized and a man on a hydrofoil went missing on Ottertail Lake over the weekend.

On Saturday, October 4 around 3:45 PM deputies were called about a catamaran-style sailboat that capsized on the west wide of the lake.

They saw a man in another boat who helped a man get his sailboat upright. No one was hurt.

Also on Saturday, around 5:00 PM, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources told deputies there was a missing person on Ottertail Lake.

A 44-year-old North Dakota man said he and his 41-year-old brother, also from North Dakota, were on hydrofoils. The man couldn’t find his brother.

After searching from the air and water, the man was found safe and unhurt after an hour on shore. He said the hydrofoil had mechanical issues.
