Lisa Demuth picks Ryan Wilson as Minn. gubernatorial running mate

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Gubernatorial candidate and Minnesota Speaker of the House Lisa Demuth picks attorney and former small business owner Ryan Wilson as her running mate.

“During Ryan’s campaign for state auditor in 2022, he sounded the alarm about fraud spiraling out of control in our state – fraud that thrived under Tim Walz’s lack of leadership in protecting Minnesotans’ hard-earned tax dollars,” Demuth said in a press release. “Minnesota tax dollars should be used to help Minnesotans, not to enrich fraudsters.”

Wilson, who’s from Maple Grove and recently served as an attorney for the Republican Party of Minnesota, lost that election to DFL State Auditor Julie Blaha by 8,435 votes. (0.34%)

“I am honored that Speaker Demuth has asked me to serve as her running mate in this pivotal election to send Tim Walz into retirement,” Wilson wrote in a press release. “Lisa is a proven fighter and leader. She’s the only candidate in this race who has stood up to Walz, stared him down, and won. Minnesotans are ready to rally behind Speaker Demuth in the months ahead.”

On Tuesday, November 11, Demuth and Wilson will be in Moorhead, Duluth, Mankato and Paynesville for a statewide media tour.

Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan is running for U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Walz hasn’t announced his running mate for next year’s election.
