(FARGO) — A local racing community has raised a large amount of money for two individuals in the region.
Jason Berg, host of the Track Talk program on WDAY Radio, presented Lend A Hand Up’s Director, Jeana Peinovich, with two $1,900 checks to support fundraising efforts for Kathy Huss and Chrissy Gerdes, who are both fighting breast cancer. The funds were raised as a part of Glyndon’s Buffalo River Speedway’s annual Paint the Track Pink fundraiser held Sunday. This year was the third year the event was held.
“I think it was awesome to see all of those pink shirts in the stands,” Peinovich said.
Berg said the event has “gotten a little bit bigger every year.”
Peinovich said the support from the event was “so generous.”
“The families of Kathy Huss and Chrissy Gerdes are going to be so appreciative of this,” she said. “They were there at the track with lots of family members all cheering on the racers, and feeling that camaraderie and comfort of the community.”
Berg said he did not know what to expect for this year’s fundraising event, as the Fargo AirSho was taking place at the same time as the racing program at Buffalo River Speedway.
“It’s something we really enjoy and love to be a part of,” he said.
