WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Fargo veteran, James Malstrom, received a much-needed vehicle Thursday as part of Progressive Insurance’s 13th annual Keys to Progress program, an initiative providing reliable transportation to veterans.

The vehicle giveaway event took place Thursday morning at the West Fargo VFW.

The donation aims to provide Malstrom with dependable transportation, enabling him to regain independence and improve his quality of life.

Malstrom, an Army veteran, had been relying on public transportation, which limited his ability to visit his disabled daughter, attend church, and make crucial Department of Veterans Affairs appointments, especially on Sundays when bus services are unavailable.

The new vehicle is expected to help him reconnect with loved ones, access medical care, and restore his sense of community.

Progressive’s Keys to Progress program is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to support veterans, military-related organizations, and veteran-owned small businesses.

This year, 99 veterans across the country are receiving vehicles. Since its inception in 2013, the program has donated more than 1,200 vehicles to veterans and their families from all five branches of the military.

Progressive collaborates with several organizations to make Keys to Progress a reality, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Veracity Research Co. Investigations (VRC), Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (IAA), and 1-800-Charity Cars.

The company states it remains dedicated to assisting veterans, their families, and veteran organizations.
