West Fargo, N.D. – A man is facing a number of charges for allegedly driving away during a traffic stop and trying to escape police on foot in West Fargo.
The city says 48-year old Billy Jo Kopperud of Argusville was pulled over on Saturday in the 1200 block of 9th Street NE for a traffic violation.
Authorities then say Kopperud decided to drive off southbound and into a field. Kopperud got out of the car and ran, but was caught soon after his attempt to escape.
Kopperud had multiple outstanding warrants before he was arrested, and is now facing other charges including:
- Felony fleeing in a motor vehicle
- Fleeing a peace officer on foot
- Felony possession of methamphetamine
- Driving under suspension
- Fleeing a peace officer on foot
Nobody was hurt during the police pursuit.
