DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A 34-year-old man died after becoming trapped in corn inside a grain elevator pit in Devils Lake, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department.
Emergency crews from the Devils Lake Rural Fire Department, Lake Region Ambulance, and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office responded to the CHS Elevator near Devils Lake around 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14.
First responders found a person trapped in corn within the elevator pit upon arrival, authorities said.
Despite rescue efforts, the man died. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation.
“Our thoughts are with the employee’s family and friends during this difficult time. CHS is cooperating with authorities responding to the incident. At this time, we have no further comment,” CHS Director of Reputation, Content and Channels Krysta Larson said.
