MAYVILLE – An elevator in Mayville continues to smolder after catching fire Saturday night on the north end of town.
Crews have remained monitoring the scene and other areas of town for flareups.
“Over most of the town, we were worried about spot fires and stuff like that,” Mayville Fire Chief Rich Hart told our partners at Valley News Live. “Luckily we caught it pretty quick.”
In a social media post Tuesday morning, Mayville Fire and Rescue said crews were ‘actively monitoring the site and will remain on watch for as long as it takes to ensure everything stays safe and contained.’
There’s no words on a potential cause for the fire, and Hart told Valley News Live that crews ‘will probably never know what it was.’
