BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says a new case of measles has been reported.
The individual case is in Ransom County, and officials say the person ‘likely acquired the infection within the state.’
HHS is continuing its investigation to determine the source of exposure, as the individual reported no recent out-of-state or international travel. The case is not linked to the outbreak in Pembina County, officials say.
North Dakota has a total of 27 confirmed cases of measles to date in 2026, and five individuals have been hospitalized. The United States has confirmed 1,575 cases in 2026. Manitoba, Canada is currently reporting an outbreak of measles. Globally, increased measles cases are being reported in many countries.
