BISMARCK, ND – A 95-year-old Linton man has been charged in a crash involving members of the Mayville State University golf team.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened Friday on I-94 near mile marker 186.
A 2021 Chevrolet Express van, driven by 54-year-old Tina Valeu of Mayville, was eastbound in the left lane of I-94 and preparing to pass a 2017 Ford pickup traveling in the right lane. The pickup’s driver, 95-year-old Albert Weber, attempted to make a turn-around on the interstate using a crossover in the median. The pickup entered the path of the van and was struck on the driver’s side.
Both Weber and Valeu were transported to a Bismarck hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Six additional passengers were in the van and have since been identified as members of the Mayville State University golf team. One of those passengers, a 20-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. No one else was injured, according to the Highway Patrol’s report.
Weber has been charged with a moving violation.
The Patrol says eastbound traffic was reduced to a single lane for one hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
