FARGO, N.D. – Fargo City Commissioner Michelle Turnberg announced her campaign for mayor on “The Jay Thomas Show”.
Turnberg said she would focus on core city services like the police and fire departments, first responders, streets and water. She would like Fargo Cass Public Health to end its needle exchange program and have the Resource and Recovery Center be run by a nonprofit.
Candidates had until 4:00 PM on Monday, April 6 to file their petitions to be on the June 9 primary election ballot in North Dakota.
Turnberg was elected to the City Commission in June 2024. If she doesn’t win the mayoral race, she won’t lose her City Commission seat since her term expires in June 2028.
Other candidates running for mayor include Deputy Mayor Denise Kolpack, City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn, Dem-NPL State Senator Josh Boschee, Fargo Human Rights Commission Chair Sekou Sirleaf and National Guardsman Jake Coulter.
