ST PAUL, MINN. – For the first time since 1956, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is discussing changing the limits for walleye possessions in the state.
The current regulation has a limit of six fish.
“Changes in lake habitat, ecology and conditions coupled with technological advances in fishing gear and methods are prompting the Minnesota DNR to seek public input on a possible reduction,” the DNR said.
The new reduction, if put into place, would reduce the possession limit to four fish.
The DNR’s most-recent statewide angler survey results reported that 48 percent of respondents favored the change and 23 percent were opposed. Remaining respondents had no opinion.
