Minnesota State Patrol issues annual WE Fest report

DETROIT LAKES, MN – The Minnesota State Patrol made more traffic stops during WE Fest this year.

““We always want to see that everyone gets to and from the event safely,” Sergeant Jesse Grabow said.

In 2025, a total of 1,155 traffic stops were completed, less than 100 more than in 2024.

A total of 511 speeding citations and warnings were given this year, up from last year. Also increased this year were hands free violation citations and warnings.

The region saw a decrease in seat belt violations, DWI arrests, minor consumption citations, driving after revocation/driving after suspension/driving after cancellation violations and other various arrests.

This year, the Patrol noted, 11 child restraint citations and warnings were issued.

Only two crashes in the area occurred and both resulted in property damage only.
