UNITED STATES – Research by the National Education Association shows Minnesota is 15th among all states and the District of Columbia for average public teacher salary and North Dakota is 40th.
The average public teacher in The North Star State got paid $72,430 in the 2024-2025 school year while public teachers in The Peace Garden State received a salary of $58,581. Click here for the full rankings.
“If North Dakota is serious about recruiting and retaining motivated and well-trained education professionals, we are going to have to raise salaries so that they are commensurate with the important work our teachers do in service to our students, their families, and their communities. It would be incredibly disappointing if the legislature were to adjourn without adequately addressing this critical issue,” ND United President Nick Archuleta said.
