MOORHEAD – Moorhead Area Public Schools says this year’s opening day enrollment is slightly lower than last year.
The district says 7,378 students were enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12th grade on the first day. That’s a decrease of 88 students compared to last year’s enrollment numbers. The district says, however, that enrollment numbers ‘typically fluctuate during the first weeks of school’ before stabilizing in October and November.
The largest class is 12th grade, which welcomed 613 students on the first day. The district’s kindergarten class enrollment was 512 students on the first day.
Last year’s enrollment on the first day was 7,466 students.
The district said parts of the high school phase two construction project hit a milestone Tuesday – the new main entrance, administration areas, science classrooms and the South parking lot opened.
