(MOORHEAD, MINN) – Moorhead and Dilworth firefighters battled a blaze Sunday afternoon at the Moorhead city compost site.
It’s located near Highway 75 and 15th Avenue North.
Upon arrival, crews discovered multiple compost piles actively burning. The fire fight was hampered by 90-plus degree weather and strong winds, which made the effort difficult.
The two agencies confined the fire within the compost site and coordinated efforts to continue applying water and gain further control of the fire.
City personnel will remain on-site to monitor the area until the fire is fully extinguished and deemed safe.
