Moorhead & Wadena Police receive grants to recruit & train new officers

MINNESOTA – Nearly 50 law enforcement agencies in Minnesota, including Moorhead and Wadena, are getting money to help recruit and train new officers.

Governor Tim Walz announced the award of four-and-a-half million dollars in grants. The money is designed to recruit 94 candidates with two and four-year degrees into law enforcement.

All candidates will attend a training program at Alexandria Technical and Community College or Hennepin Technical College where they will go through the same training traditional peace officer students complete.

The Moorhead City Council passed its budget Monday including funding for two new police officers.
