JAMESTOWN, N.D. – North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne wants North Dakota’s Congressional delegation to engage in finding solutions to what he calls “reckless decisions” by the Trump administration.
President Trump has said he wants to buy beef from Argentina to bring costs down for Americans.
“Our cattle ranchers are finally getting a fair price for the work they do and the investments they’ve made, and the Administration responds by undermining that effort rather than investing in solutions that put more American beef on consumers’ plates,” Watne said in a statement obtained by Flag Family News.
Watne also urges Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak educate the White House on production agriculture and identify long-term solutions.
He added the expiration of Affordable Care Act Premiums at the end of the year are “hanging over farmers and ranchers” as he says 70 percent of North Dakota farm families will see health insurance premiums double if they aren’t extended.
On of the reasons Senate Democrats have not voted to reopen the government is because Republicans haven’t agreed to extend those Obamacare subsidies.
