FARGO, N.D. – Republican candidate for North Dakota House District 41 in South Fargo Jennifer Benson responds to being censured twice by the Fargo School Board when she was on the panel in 2020.

She accused former Fargo Superintendent Dr. Rupak Ghandi of withholding information about declining enrollment numbers. Ghandi asked Benson why she didn’t bring up any concerns when he talked about enrollment numbers multiple times during board meetings. Then Board Member Kristi Ulrich said Benson consistently reported inflammatory and unsubstantiated comments detrimental to the psyche of staff and administration.

Benson was also censured for refusing to wear a mask during school board meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“My approach has always been the same and that is to ask questions, to follow the data and to speak honestly. Sometimes telling the truth and asking tough questions can be difficult,” Benson told guest host Tim Flakoll on “The Jay Thomas Show”.

Benson was on the Fargo School Board from 2014 to 2022. She ran for a seat on the Fargo City Commission in 2022 coming in sixth place with 8% of the vote among 15 candidates.

Benson serves as second vice president of the North Dakota Republican Party and executive vice president of the conservative group American Experiment North Dakota.
