N.D. legislators considering changes to state legislative term limits

BISMARCK, ND – State lawmakers are considering changes to term limits for state legislative positions.

A resolution, SCR 4008, proposes extending term limits to 16 years and removing the restriction on legislative amendments.  This follows a voter-approved constitutional amendment in 2022 that set strict term limits and prohibited legislative changes.

Public support for congressional and state legislative term limits remains high, with 81 percent of state residents in favor.
