N.D. soybeans see new international markets according to state agriculture leaders

NORTH DAKOTA – North Dakota agriculture leaders say the state is seeing new markets for its soybeans after the 2025 trade war with China.

President of the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association Justin Sherlock said crushing plants in Casselton and Spiritwood have the capacity to crush about half of the soybeans in the state in the average year. He believes if the state grows its biofuel market, it will have more meal we can export to other countries which Latin and Central American countries want to do.

“It’s opening up new markets we didn’t have before and we’ll keep working on our traditional markets. I think there’s going to be opportunity, but I think there’s some rough years ahead yet for the next few years for farmers,” Sherlock said on “What’s On Your Mind?”.

North Dakota Soybean Soybean Council Chairman Jim Thompson said agriculture advocates from The Peace Garden State are visiting Vietnam and Thailand next week.
