ND Congresswoman Fedorchak: New tax and spending cut bill will “jumpstart our economy”

Washington, D.C. – Days after the so-called ‘big beautiful bill’ was passed and signed into law, North Dakota Republican Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak is making the case that the budget package will benefit everyone.

“I really think it’s going to help jumpstart our economy and get America back on track,” Fedorchak told The Flag’s The Steve Hallstrom Show on Monday.

The legislation, which was signed by President Trump on July 4th, included many Republican priorities, from extending Trump’s tax cuts, to cutting waste within Medicaid and increasing funding for national defense.

While the bill was passed by the Senate and then cleared the House by a razor-edge final vote of 218-to-214, Fedorchak admits there were some uncertain moments about getting it through Congress thanks to handful of Republican holdouts.

“[It was] dicey at times [and I] wasn’t sure all the folks were going to come forward,” said Fedorchak.

“I truly always believed that we would [get the votes] but there were moments when I thought ‘What if we can’t?  Then what do we do?'”

While Democrats argue it will lead to millions of people losing healthcare coverage and increasing the national debt, Fedorchak argues there are great policies in the new budget “that we have long wanted.”

“It will help our citizens and our families keep more of the money that they earn and begin to start bringing down the size and cost of government,” said Fedorchak.
