ND DOH wants opinions on Medicaid waivers for those with disabilities

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Health would like North Dakotans’ thoughts on expanding access to Medicaid for community-based services including host homes for young people with developmental disabilities.

Officials say public feedback will help them understand which services will be the most beneficial. Click here to share your thoughts.

Congress changed eligibility requirements for Medicaid through the “One Big Beautiful Act” that aren’t scheduled to take affect until 2027. The reforms impact working-age, “able-bodied” people without children who will be required to work, volunteer or go to school for at least 20 hours a week to maintain coverage.

In an interview with Flag Family News in July, North Dakota Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak said those who are disabled and the traditional Medicaid population aren’t largely impacted by the eligibility changes.
