NORTH DAKOTA – With 34 confirmed cases of measles, North Dakota leads the country in confirmed cases of the virus per 100,000 people.
The North Dakota Public Health Association says the state’s rate is at 4.27 cases while New Mexico is second with 3.71.
“This is not because of local public health failure, but from people choosing not to have their children vaccinated and resisting local public health recommendations,” the non-profit said on social media.
North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed cases in Cass, Grand Forks, Williams, and Burke Counties. Health officials say everyone that has been infected is unvaccinated against the virus.
