GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Secretary of the U.S. Air Force is planning to attend an annual North Dakota event about drone development.
Senator John Hoeven says he’s hosting Secretary Troy Meink at the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Summit and Expo in Grand Forks on Oct. 15th.
“We are excited for Secretary Meink to join us at this year’s UAS Summit to discuss the opportunities that are being made possible by initiatives like Project ULTRA,” Hoeven said in a statement.
Meink, who hails from South Dakota, will discuss ways the U.S. military can leverage the state’s drone development.
Hoeven recently locked in an agreement to increase federal funding for Project ULTRA from $18 million to $100 million.
“The public-private partnerships that we’ve worked to forge are helping the Air Force make real progress on developing new UAS applications, and this is just the beginning of the results that Project ULTRA can deliver,” said Hoeven.
