WAHPETON, N.D. – North Dakota State College of Science automotive technology students will learn how to work on a pickup with the latest technology thanks to a donation from Vision Ford and Ford Motor Company.
During an event on campus Friday Sept. 12, Vision Ford Wahpeton Owner Ward Cater presented a 2024 Ford F-150 STX Series pickup to students and staff.
“This donation serves as a real-world training tool that will prepare our students for success in today’s automotive industry,” Mike Redding, NDSCS Associate Dean of Transportation said in a written statement before the event. “We’re grateful to Vision Ford and the Ford Motor Company for supporting the next generation of technicians and giving them access to cutting-edge technology right here at NDSCS.”
Cater said the gift addresses the industry’s greatest challenge: a shortage of skilled technicians.
“Having students work on the latest, greatest technology is what we need,” Cater said.
Second-year automotive student Eric Tracy said the donation fills a gap in the program’s training fleet.
“We don’t have many newer trucks here, so getting a brand-new vehicle is a big opportunity for us,” Tracy said.
Students will work on the F-150’s suspension, electronics and dashboard systems.
