NDSU president candidate Dr. Marshall Stewart believes every student should have international & internship opportunities

FARGO, N.D. – The first candidate for North Dakota State University president to have an on-campus visit praised the university’s land grant status while sharing what he would focus on if he’s offered the position.

Kansas State University executive vice president for external engagement Dr. Marshall Stewart believes every student should have opportunities to learn internationally and get an internship.

“As a land grant university, our first customer are the people of North Dakota. We have to protect those people. It doesn’t mean we don’t do global things, it doesn’t mean we don’t do regional or national things. What it means is if you take care of North Dakotans, North Dakotans will take care of you,” Stewart explained.

Marshall said he wants to make sure a family or student’s income isn’t a barrier to tuition and build a culture of trust and believability.

The new NDSU president is expected to begin working at the university in June. Click here for more information on all three finalists and to watch a recording of their public presentations.
