New Red River Regional Dispatch Center Fargo headquarters is open

FARGO, N.D. – 911 dispatchers have a new workplace.

The Red River Regional Dispatch Center has moved to a new building on 45th Street North in Fargo. It has the latest in dispatch technology will eventually allow dispatchers to get pictures and video from 911 callers.

“It really brings us into that next generation of 911 call processing where you get better location information,” Red River Regional Dispatch Center Executive Director Amanda Amanda Glasoe said on WDAY Radio’s “The Coffee Club”.

The new headquarters has 12 consoles for dispatchers to work at. There are eight consoles at the old building which can be used in large incidents.

The dispatch center receives calls from anywhere in Cass and Clay counties. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says this helps law enforcement and fire departments because they get all their information in one place rather than having different dispatch centers try and coordinate on calls. He has given high praise to dispatchers.

“They really are the lifeline of my staff and getting them assistance and just making sure that we can fulfill our mission, vision and values here at our Sheriff’s Office which is to provide a good community service,” Jahner explained on “The Coffee Club”.

Glasoe said the dispatch center receives 800 to 1,000 calls every day.

This year the North Dakota legislature passed a bill naming dispatchers first responders. Glasoe hopes Congress will do the same thing.
