Newly released court documents detail events leading to Fargo stabbing

FARGO, N.D. – Court documents are shedding light on the events that led to a stabbing early this morning.

Officers responded for a report of two people that were stabbed by a man, who is identified in court documents as Maverick Herald.

Herald stabbed one person once and another twice in an apartment. All of the stab wounds were classified as significant, according to police reports filed in Cass County District Court. The victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A witness said Herald came to the apartment building and attempted to force his way into an apartment. At that time, the victims started to try and push him out of the apartment. At some point, Herald pulled out a knife and attempt to swing it at the witness, but she was able to push his arm away.

She was unable to say when the victims were injured during the altercation, but said Herald left soon after.

Another victim, the apartment tenant, said the altercation began between Herald and the two victims after Herald tried to enter the apartment.

He was located and arrested, charged with two Class C felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was found with a knife and admitted to stabbing the individuals as they were fighting with him.

Herald was transported to the Cass County Jail.
