BECKER COUNTY, MINN. (Valley News Live) – Former Minnesota State Senator Nicole Michell’s defense team is challenging the amount of restitution being sought by the victim, her stepmother, Carol Mitchell.
Mitchell was convicted on two felony charges on July 18, 2025, related to breaking into her stepmother’s home on April 22, 2024.
According to Court Documents, Carol is seeking $23,585.53 in restitution to cover the costs of damages to her home, expenses associated with moving into and out of a new apartment, and upgrades to her home’s security.
Nicole Mitchell’s defense team is requesting that a restitution hearing be held to determine the appropriate amount of money to be paid. They request that the hearing take place after her sentencing on September 23.
