FARGO, ND – Two snowplows from the North Dakota Department of Transportation have been involved in crashes in the southeast region of the state during the early days of the winter snow storm season.
North Dakota Highway Patrol Southeast Region Commander Bryan Niewind tells Flag Family News that the first crash happened during Tuesday’s blizzard. It was called in at 1:35 p.m. on eastbound I-94 in Cass County near Buffalo at mile marker 315. Niewind said there are no additional details as the report has not yet been completed, but he said no injuries were incurred.
Then, on Wednesday morning, a plow was hit on southbound I-29 in Richland County.
The crash happened at mile marker four, where a plow was actively working and applying salt to the roadway in the right lane. A pickup was beginning to pass the plow in the left lane when a second pickup approached both the plow and the other pickup from the rear at a higher rate of speed. The two pickups came into contact with each other, causing the pickup at a high rate of speed to enter the median.
One of the pickups rear ended the plow – and the pickup driver suffered minor injuries.
