North Dakota Farmers Union donates $500,000 to Great Plains Food Bank

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Great Plains Food Bank officials said people are turning to the organization for support more than ever during the government shutdown.

North Dakota Farmers Union made sure hungry North Dakotans and those who live in Clay County, Minnesota will get the food they need through a $500,000 donation to the nonprofit.

“We are fortunate to be able to make this donation, which comes from the strength of our grassroots organization and our members – the hundreds of family farmers and ranchers who put food on our tables every day,” North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne said.

NDFU said the donation is dedicated to Great Plains’ Harvesting Hope Campaign which is focused on building a new statewide distribution center to expand food access across North Dakota.
