BISMARCK, N.D. – Employees working remotely under the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will soon learn when they will be returning to in-person work at the department.
In an email obtained by Flag Family News, HHS interim Commissioner Pat Traynor and Deputy Commissioner Emily O’Brien say state agencies, including HHS, are reviewing their office space and leasing arrangements in order to optimize utilization of space.
“To better support teamwork, service delivery and responsible stewardship of public resources, we are implementing a phased return-to-office plan across our entire agency,” a memo to HHS employees said.
Department leadership said the transition will begin with those in Bismarck-Mandan and will continue throughout 2026 and beyond.
“Over the next several months, configuration and fit-up activities will be undertaken to best accommodate our team members across the state in having a successful transition back to the office,” leadership said.
