North Dakota regulators approve Traill County dairy farm

HILLSBORO – State regulators have approved a permit for a 25,000 head dairy farm in Traill County.

The Herberg Dairy facility will be located near Hillsboro.

The 25,000 heads include 21,250 milking dairy cows and 3,750 dry dairy cows. The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality says any expansion or changes in the number of livestock or ownership will need to be given to the Department to evaluate whether or not a permit needs to be updated or a new one obtained. The dairy’s legal name will be Riverview ND, LLP.

The permit approval for Hillsboro is the second for Riverview.

In January, the regulators approved a facility in Richland County, near Abercrombie, that will house 12,500 dairy cattle – 10,625 milking cattle and 1,875 dry dairy cows.
