North Dakota Republican Party delegates endorse Balazs for U.S. House

MINOT, N.D. – The North Dakota Republican Party has endorsed Alex Balazs for the U.S. House seat.

Balazs was the lone candidate running for U.S. House that attended the Republican Party, as Julie Fedorchak decided to forgo the convention and its endorsement in favor of running on the June primary ballot.

“The importance of this day is not lost on me,” he said in his endorsement acceptance speech.

Balazs addressed the non-attendance of several officeholders who are both up for reelection and those who are not.

“For whatever reason you guys got together and stayed away from the convention, I would say, ‘Step back in,’” he said. “The constituents want to talk to you. They want to have open discourse, and that’s where everything stands.”

Balazs said stepping away from the convention ‘makes it look like we’re divided.’

“It makes it look like there is a lot of contention,” he said. “I think it was a decision they made; I don’t think it’s something they wrote in stone that they’re never going to participate again.”

Balazs said he’s going to be working hard to criss-cross the state between now and June 9.

“I would look for us to be talking to grassroots, talking to folks,” he said. “Fargo, Bismarck, everybody.”
