Poll: Minnesotans overall disapprove of Trump’s handling of economy, more Northern MN voters approve

MINNESOTA – A new statewide poll shows many Minnesotans don’t approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy, but there appears to be a regional divide on the issue.

A Star Tribune/University of Minnesota poll shows 47 percent of registered voters believe the economy has gotten worse under Trump, while 30 percent believe it’s gotten better.

Thirty-five percent of respondents from Northern Minnesota believe the economy is better under Trump, compared to 31 percent who say it’s worse.

Almost half of all Minnesotans say they feel their financial situation will worsen in the long run because of the president’s tariffs. Almost thirty-percent believe they will get better.

A third of Northern Minnesotans believe the president’s tariffs will improve their finances, while another 32 percent think they will be worse.

Eight hundred registered voters took part in this poll from June 16 to 18.

The margin of error is 3.5 percent.
